When we buy fish from Iceland, we only buy from suppliers that are within the Icelandic Responsible Fisheries chain of custody. Iceland waters produce some of the best seafood in the World, while also having one of the strictest fishing quotas in the world, which keeps their fishing sustainable.

POTATOES
Throughout the months of June, July and August, when the early season potatoes are being harvested, Jojo’s can purchase chipping potatoes from local areas such as Shropshire. This helps to reduce our carbon footprint. As the potato season progresses, we are required to go further afield for a tasty chip, but our expert potato merchants will purchase and store in large qualities again reducing the amount of haulage required.

PALM OIL
Jojo’s use the UK’s No.1 vegetable oil - Frymax.
Sustainable, long lasting and fully refined, Frymax has been the leading vegetable oil in the fish frying trade for over 60 years.
“In palm oil producing countries, palm oil production and trade contribute to economic growth and poverty reduction. Oil palm fruits are harvested on both large-scale plantations and small-scale family farms. However, one of the biggest threats in those countries is unsustainable palm oil plantations which damage both the regional and global environment along with that of the indigenous wildlife.”
Waste
COOKING OIL
Jojo’s are big believers in “Clean Oil, Clean Food”. We filter our cooking oils every day. Using sophisticated apparatus, we can establish an accurate condition of our cooking oil. When our oil is past its best, we will recycle it. The waste oil is collected and then converted into Bio Diesel.
